The deep freeze
Country shivers to its coldest winter in 30 years
Monday February 09 2009
ARCTIC weather conditions have seen Irelandheading for its coldest winter in over 30 years.
Met Eireann has confirmed that parts of the country are being hit with a deep freeze not seen in decades. And the chill is set to continue this week -- with only a small increase in temperatures expected.
The bleak forecast comes as the country struggled with freak snowfalls, freezing temperatures and a dangerous coating of ice on the roads this weekend.
Sleet and snow showers left many secondary routes, and roads on high ground and in sheltered areas, risky for drivers yesterday.

Hello,
Hoping that you will keep safe and warm in this horribly cold season.
Take care and God bless you!
Tis a good time to stay indoors as much as I possibly can ! It will pass. Spring is just around the corner ! Thanks for your kind thought and the same to you !
Take care and God Bless !
Hi ocho-onda,
Silly as it sounds, I kinda miss the cold over where you are right now. Its been 10+ years since I last enjoyed the feeling of being snug under layers and layers of clothing with my ears about to drop off.
By the way, thanks for visiting my blog.
Hi romerz,
Nice to have you dropping by. No, you are quite right actually. as the saying goes, there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad (wrong) weather gears !
And it is amazing how the human body adjusts to suit its environment!
And there is nothing as interesting or as unpredictable as the Irish weather - it is not unusual to experience 4 seasons in one day !
No thanks are necessary as you will have noticed that I am like you , I thread on the middle path, though at times, its hard not to waver off a bit! :-)
Cheers.
